Fashionable epoxy/clay nanocomposites using modified clay-loaded methyl blue dye

Abstract In this work, the elimination of methyl blue (MB) acidic dye from an aqueous solution was investigated using two types modified montmorillonite. One with dimethyl benzyl hydrogenated tallow ammonium chloride which named claytone (APA). The other montmorillonite is poly oxy propylene diamine (Jeffamine D-2000) and referred to as clayD2000. adsorption efficiency clay D2000 1.4 mg/g at pH 2 6, respectively, after 60 min. Pseudo-second-order best model explain process for both surfaces. maximum capacity, q max according Langmuir isotherm 2.75 2.56 clayD2000, respectively. MB on endothermic exothermic Additionally, a favorable uptake clayD2000 only lower temperatures. A new approach applied valorize colored loaded clays dyes through incorporation products (MB/claytone MB/clayD2000) into epoxy resin fabricate nanocomposites that are stylish. obtained were characterized several techniques. results transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed clay-loaded nanosheets well distributed in matrix. Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) exhibited epoxy/MB/clay thermally stable compared bare resin. Vickers hardness test indicates significantly improved despite addition minor amount comparison unmodified Moreover, antimicrobial activity has been tested against bacteria yeast. This study reveals ability use solid wastes resulted wastewater treatment enhancing properties polymer suit various industrial requirements.
